The
first LFD box I found was this Double Press. In it, the cigars
were still in the original press frames that was used in forming
them. Those frames became my fountain pen compartments. More
challenging, though, was that the box is double sided - that's right, it
has a lid on the "top" and on the "bottom". So
how to deal with that? Well, first I added secure magnetic closure
for both lids to ensure that it stayed shut when inverted and
shaken. Then I lined each compartment with felt and, to protect
the pens when turned over, added a microfiber inner cover between the
pens and the lids. The exterior was stained and finished with
three coats of hand rubbed varnish.
LFD Double Press - I use this one myself, so it is not available for sale (unless you convince me) |
